JIPMER MBBS seats are reserved for certain category and follows the reservation policy mandated by the Government of India for admissions to central educational institutions. The reservation criteria for different categories in JIPMER MBBS seats are as follows:
15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
7.5% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
27% of seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates (Non-Creamy Layer).
10% of seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) candidates.

Admission to the MBBS programme at JIPMER is conducted through the NEET exam. The NEET exam is held annually offline and consists of multiple-choice questions. Candidates who qualify for the NEET exam are called for counseling based on their merit ranks. The online counselling is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). During counselling, candidates can choose their preferred course based on their rank and seat availability.
