Frequently Asked Questions in NEET Chemistry

Given below are the important NEET chemistry questions asked in the exam. Candidates must read further to know more about the repeatedly asked questions in NEET Chemistry.

Question: If the rate constant for a first-order reaction is k, the time (t) required for the completion of 99 of the reaction is given by:

    Option 1: $t = 0.693k$

    Option 2: $t = 6.909k$

    Option 3: $t = 4.606k$

    Option 4: $t = 2.303k$

    Answer: $t = 4.606k$

    Solution:

The integrated rate law for a first-order reaction is given by:
    $t = \dfrac{2.303}{k}\log_{10}!\left(\dfrac{a}{a - x}\right)$.

    Given: $a = 100$, $x = 99$, hence $a - x = 1$.

    Substituting these values:
    $t = \dfrac{2.303}{k}\log_{10}!\left(\dfrac{100}{1}\right)$.

    Since $\log_{10}(100) = 2$,

    $t = \dfrac{2.303 \times 2}{k} = \dfrac{4.606}{k}$.

Thus, the time required for $99%$ completion is $t = \dfrac{4.606}{k}$.

Question: The correct order of atomic radii in group 13 elements is:

    Option 1:

    B < Ga < Al < Tl < In

    Option 2:

    B < Al < Ga < In < Tl

    Option 3:

    B < AI < In < Ga < Tl

    Option 4:

    B < Ga < Al < In < Tl

    Answer: B < Ga < Al < In < Tl

    Solution:

As we learnt in the topic of Ionisation Energy of the Boron Family:

It does not decrease regularly down the group.

This is because there is a discontinuity between Al and Ga, and between In and Tl, due to the inability of d and f electrons (which have a low screening effect) to effectively compensate for the increase in nuclear charge.

In Group 13, the trend in atomic radius is also not regular due to transition contraction.

Hence, option number (4) is correct.
