The NEET grace marks 2024 or the compensatory marks are the additional marks that were given to the candidates for the time they lost on the NEET exam day due to various irregularities and other reasons at the exam centres. A total of 1563 candidates were given grace marks in NEET 2024. Out of these 1563 candidates, two candidates got scores of 718 and 719 due to NEET grace marks 2024, which sparked a lot of controversy. NEET 2024 retest is on June 23.

The NEET 2024 scorecard was released on June 4, and due to grace marks in NEET, two candidates got scores of 718 and 719, which is mathematically not possible as per the marking scheme. This sparked a row and many claimed NEET 2024 as a scam. However, NTA later clarified that the NEET 2024 grace marks were given based on the answering efficiency of the candidates and the time they lost, as per the formula established by the Apex Court. What are grace marks in NEET?
NEET grace marks meaning is the additional marks that are given to candidates as compensation for the loss of time they faced during the exam day. These grace marks in NEET are added to the actual marks of the candidates and are decided as per the Apex Court’s judgment dated June 13, 2018 in W.P. 551 of 2018.
NEET grace marks 2024 latest update
Amid the controversy sparked due to the grace marks in NEET 2024, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court of India seeking an answer from NTA. As per the latest update, the centre on June 13 informed the Supreme Court of India that the grace marks in NEET 2024 which were awarded to 1563 students will be cancelled.

Try NowThese 1563 students will be informed of their actual scores without the NEET grace marks and will be given the option to appear for NEET re-exam. If students who are awarded with the grace marks in NEET 2024 do not wish to take the re-test, their scores without the grace marks will be considered as the final score.
How many grace marks in NEET 2024 were given?
As per the media reports, Alakh Pandey, the CEO of Physics Wallah filed a petition in the Supreme Court of India claiming that about 70-80 marks were randomly awarded as NEET grace marks to at least 1500 students. As per the petition filed by Physics Wallah CEO Alakh Pandey, this allocation of NEET 2024 grace marks is completely random and without any proper reason. The Supreme Court of India however closed the issue of NEET grace marks 2024 due to a lack of supporting evidence but has kept this petition as pending for redressing other grievances.
NEET grace marks 2024 toppers
67 candidates scored a perfect score of 720 marks in NEET 2024 and secured an AIR 1. As per the NTA clarification and press release, out of these 67 candidates, 6 candidates with an All India Rank 1 were given grace marks in NEET 2024. These NEET grace marks helped these 6 candidates to score a perfect score of 720 marks.

Will there be re NEET 2024?
As per the latest update, there will be a re NEET 2024 on June 23. This NEET 2024 re-exam is however will only be for the 1563 candidates who were awarded the grace marks in NEET 2024. Candidates will have an option to either appear for the NEET re exam 2024 or else their updated scorecards will be published by the NTA without the addition of NEET grace marks 2024.
