Tie-breaking criteria for UP CNET result 2026
In case two or more candidates secure equal marks in the CNET 2026 exam, the authority applies a tie-breaking rule for preparing the merit list. CNET 2026 tie-breaking criteria have been listed below.
A candidate securing higher marks in Biology (Botany and Zoology) is placed higher in the merit list.
If the tie remains, the candidate securing higher marks in Chemistry is placed higher.
If the tie is still not resolved, the candidate securing higher marks in Physics secures a higher rank.
If the tie is still there, class 12 marks are considered (in case the marks are the same, individual marks in order of Biology, Chemistry and Physics are considered).
At last, if all these parameters are the same, the candidate older in age is placed higher in the merit.
What after the declaration of CNET result 2026?
Once the result of the CNET exam is declared, qualified candidates are required to participate in the counselling process. CNET counselling is conducted in three rounds- round 1, round 2 and mop-up round. The authority also conducts the stray vacancy round of counselling in case the seats remain vacant.
