The National Testing Agency (NTA) has published the NEET 2025 scoring system in the information bulletin available on the official website, neet.nta.nic.in. The NEET 2025 marking scheme includes: Each question carries 4 marks, and one mark is deducted for each wrong attempt. No marks are given for unanswered questions as per the NEET exam scoring system.

NEET 2025 Scoring System

Candidates must note that marking more than one option in the NEET OMR sheet will cause a negative marking. The NEET question paper features a total of 180 multiple choice questions. The total marks for the NEET exam is 720. The NEET marking system defines the marks given to answers filled by the candidate in the entrance exam. NEET scoring system

The NTA released the NEET marking scheme 2025 in the information bulletin. To qualify NEET UG 2025, candidates must understand the scoring system of NEET as provided by the authority. The NEET marking pattern follows the uniform approach for all subjects. Check the NEET scoring system 2025 below.

  • 4 marks are given for each correct answer and one mark is deducted for each wrong attempt.

  • For unanswered questions, no mark will be given or deducted.

  • There is no negative marking in NEET.

  • Answers once marked by the candidate cannot be changed.

NEET 2025 exam pattern marking scheme total marks

The NEET question paper consists of 180 questions. With each question worth 4 marks, the total marks in NEET exam is 720. The NEET paper 2025 is divided into three sections - Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). NEET Physics and Chemistry subjects carry 180 marks each.
