NEET PG 2024 Topper Interview - Dr Ravi Bansal (AIR 5)
The National Board of Examinations, NBE announced the much-awaited NEET PG results on August 23, 2024, for over 2 lakh medical graduates. Amongst the NEET PG 2024 toppers, Dr Ravi Bansal, bagged AIR 5. In conversation with Careers360, Dr Bansal shared his journey of becoming a topper and what helped him crack a tough exam like NEET PG. Careers360: Congratulations on emerging as a NEET PG 2024 topper! How are you feeling about your results?
Dr Ravi: I can't describe my feelings in words. I was expecting a rank somewhere under the top 100, but getting rank 5 was unexpected.
Careers360: Tell us something about your background
Dr Ravi: I'm from the University College of Medical Sciences, Delhi (2018 batch). It was my first attempt at NEET-PG.
Careers360: What are your thoughts on the NEET PG 2024 postponement that many candidates requested? Do you think the exam should've been postponed?
Dr Ravi: When the first postponement happened, I was happy that I got more time to prepare. But when the postponement happened again, I felt a little low. So I took a 10-15 day break, and once the official notification regarding the exam date came, I went back to my routine again.
Careers360: How did you prepare for NEET PG 2024?
Dr Ravi: I started my NEET PG preparations in the 3rd year of MBBS. My primary source of preparation was Marrow. I completed all the video lectures from Marrow, which helped me clear all the concepts. I also completed all the grand tests on their platform. There was a mix of simple and tough GTs. NEET-PG 2024 felt exactly like a tough Marrow GT to me.
Careers360: How much time did you devote to self-study vs. coaching and how do you manage to do both?
Dr Ravi: The timings were not fixed, as sometimes I used to get busy due to my postings. Some days I would solve 5 modules, and other days I would solve 15 modules from the Marrow Q bank. Even during my postings, I found time to go through Marrow pearls, and that really helped me spend my time effectively.
