    FMGE 2026 eligibility criteria are a set of guidelines that candidates need to fulfil to be eligible for the FMGE screening test for the June session. FMGE eligibility criteria 2026 includes the basic criteria related to nationality, qualification, and internship among others. It is to be noted that those who fail to satisfy the FMGE 2026 eligibility criteria for the June session are not allowed to appear for the screening test.

    FMGE is conducted twice a year in June and December for Indian nationals or OCIs to obtain the provisional or permanent registration certificate from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or State Medical Council (SMC). In FMGE 2026, a total of 300 multiple-choice questions are sked from Pre-Clinical, Clinical and Paraclinical subjects which are taught during MBBS.     FMGE 2026 eligibility criteria (June session)

    For candidates who wish to appear for FMGE 2026, it is extremely important to know and fulfil the eligibility guidelines set by NBE. The detailed eligibility of the FMGE 2026 June session is mentioned below.

    • Nationality: Foreign medical graduates must be a citizens of India or should be Overseas Citizens of India.

    • Education Qualification:
      (a) Candidates must possess a primary medical qualification from the recognised institution, which must be confirmed by the concerned Indian Embassy of that country.
      (b) Candidates must submit the requisite documents as evidence to prove that they have qualified for the final examination of Primary Medical examination on or before the specified date.
      (c) The result of the final examination for the said primary medical qualification should have been declared on or before October 31, 2026.

    • Country-wise Eligibility: Medical applicants who have completed their undergraduate, as well as postgraduate medical qualifications, form the following mentioned countries, are not required to appear for the FMGE June session screening test to get the permanent or provisional registration certificate. Such candidates can directly register with MCI or SMC for the certificate and do their further practice in India.

    FMGE 2026 eligibility criteria - Who is non-eligible?

    Along with the eligibility of FMGE, here are some guidelines which explain why and when a medical aspirant is considered non-eligible to appear for FMGE 2026 June session.

    • Candidates who fail to provide the required documents within the due dates will be not eligible for FMGE. The requisite documents can be sent to the regulatory body after filling out the FMGE 2026 application form.

    • Any false document or details presented by candidates at any time of admission will not be considered under the eligibility criteria of FMGE 2026.

    • If the primary medical qualification degree of the medical graduates will be received after the cutoff date, then the candidate will not be considered eligible as per the FMGE 2026 June guidelines.

    NBE releases the FMGE application form on the official website in online mode. Candidates can fill out the FMGE application form for the 2026 June session in six steps which include registration, login, filling in personal and academic details, paying the application fee, and taking printouts.
