The case on NEET PG result 2024 has been postponed by the Supreme Court for five times, with the most recent hearing on November 26 delayed at the petitioners' request for a one-week adjournment. The hearing on December 3, 2024 was to be taken up by a bench consisting of Justices BR Gavai and MV Viswanathan. Meanwhile, beyond the ongoing MCC NEET PG counselling 2024, several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Rajasthan, are addressing petitions highlighting discrepancies in the NEET PG results.

Despite persistent demands from candidates, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has declined to release the answer key or exam content, citing their examination policies. Aspirants have raised numerous concerns regarding the conduct of the NEET PG 2024 exam. Key issues include repeated postponements of the exam dates, the lack of transparency in publishing the answer key, the normalization process, and the disclosure of raw scores. These issues have impacted over 2 lakh candidates nationwide.

NEET PG result 2024: Effects on state counselling

During the opening day of the Supreme Court's review of NEET PG 2024, the Chief Justice of India expressed concerns over a surprising decision to modify the examination format just days before it was conducted. These changes, along with procedural inconsistencies, have disrupted the state-level counselling processes for postgraduate medical admissions.

In Rajasthan, 45 medical practitioners filed a petition citing irregularities in the provisional merit list issued by the Medical Counselling Committee on November 22. Similarly, in Madhya Pradesh, allegations of errors in postgraduate admissions have led to court intervention. Observing these cases, the Rajasthan High Court noted that such discrepancies might not be confined to one state.

Himachal Pradesh has also seen alterations in its NEET PG counselling merit list. Adjustments were made to the incentives for Dr. Rajkumar, a candidate, whose allocated score was revised from 10.071 to 2.948 by the state’s Director of Health Services. These localized issues underline broader concerns about the transparency and fairness of the NEET PG admission process this year.

NEET PG 2024: About the exam conducted this year

The NEET PG 2024 exam was conducted in two shifts, leading to the introduction of a normalization process which ensures fairness between candidates in different shifts. However, with the declaration of the NEET PG results many students claimed that the normalization process was not fairly followed. The process benefited some candidates over others.

Candidates who appeared in the NEET PG exam reported that the second shaft questions were tougher as compared to the first shift. Also, the lack of transparency regarding the normalization formula and the refusal to release NEET PG answer keys intensified these concerns.
